The ACT Government Entry Point (the ‘Entry Point’) project redefined the structure and presentation of www.act.gov.au, aiming to enhance its role as a major entry point for government information and services, particularly for small and micro businesses. Canberra Connect managed the project on behalf of the ACT Government. The Steering Committee for the project contained representatives from across the ACT Government.
The redesign of the ACT Government Entry Point required Human Solutions to complete the following tasks:
-
Consultation – Stakeholder consultation and focus groups to determine requirements of the site
-
Site Review – Review accessibility and usability testing results for the current site and integrate recommendations into the design and architecture
-
Requirements – Identify business and user requirements, and development supporting documentation
-
Site Documentation – Develop a sitemap, wireframe and storyboard of the proposed site
-
Visual Design – Develop three alternate graphic design treatments to represent the proposed site with sufficient detail for expert usability testing
-
Templates – Develop functional HTML for the selected graphic design
-
Integration – Develop documentation to support integration of the HTML into the existing portal.
Human Solutions was selected to undertake the project management, stakeholder consultation, analysis, and design for the project. Visual design was outsourced to two graphic designers: Gataric & Freeman Design and Peta Riddell Design. Tony Holzner from H4 New Media developed functional HTML and CSS layouts for integration into the portal.
The first phase of the new design developed by the Human Solutions was launched by the Chief Minister in October 2005.
This project demonstrates our consulting ability and our proficiency to work closely with government agencies, stakeholders and end users to produce quality outcomes for our clients.
