The Resource Generator provides trainers and assessors with
access to information about units of competency, qualifications
and learning resources across a range of industries.
The site, sponsored by the Australian Government
Department of Education,
Science and Training (DEST), supports the use of
Vocational Education Training Packages in Australia.
It allows users to:
-
view documents
-
customise resources
-
download and print documents
-
upload their own resources and incorporate them into documents
-
share resources and communicate with colleagues and communities of practice
Users can download and print documents which combine a custom
cover, page numbering and their selection of contents. The
component resources may be publicly available resources, private
resources or resources shared with colleagues. Resources may be
discovered by searching on their metadata, their full text, or
their association with units and qualifications in the
Australian Qualifications Framework.
Registered users have their own home page, giving access to their
resources and their previous work. They may share with groups of
colleagues, communicate with those groups or discuss matters
in group forums. They can also easily invite others to participate
on the site.
The public resources on the Resource Generator are provided and
maintained remotely by the relevant National Industry Skills Council.
The Resource Generator is hosted through one of our servers at Networking Tasmania. We also provide email and telephone help desk support to over fourteen thousand registered users.
This project demonstrates our ability to create a community around a site,
and develop expandable solutions which grow as content is added.
The project also shows our ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
to achieve common outcomes.
