The Business Licence Information Service (BLIS) provides comprehensive information on the Local, State and Commonwealth licensing requirements for any business in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Clients can choose a summary (general information about business licences and compliance), an overview (a brief listing of all the licences they may need) or a Question & Answer interface (producing a customised report on their specific licensing requirements).
Operators from the BLIS also have access to a client management system, helping them provide value-added services, and allowing statistical analysis and ongoing client management.
Our experience with understanding legislative requirements provides the basis for the question and answer approach, pioneered with the Tasmanian BLIS in 1991. Additionally, metadata based searches (with the use of synonyms) provide a reliable and effective mechanism for discovering the relevant information on the BLIS.
The state and local licensing information on the BLIS (over 3000 licences) is collected through eContent, a Web-based content management system that provides distributed authoring for government agencies to regularly update their information. Our content management ensures that the information is consistent, concise and complete.
Application forms provided through agency Web sites are automatically monitored for updates and integrated into the BLIS within one business day. More than 2500 application forms and associated documents are provided through the BLIS. We also monitor legislation to ensure that changes are reflected on the BLIS.
The latest version of the BLIS, the fourth release since 1991, provides improved performance, enhanced reports integrating a range of new application forms and business factsheets, and a new, simplified visual style.
The BLIS is hosted through one of our servers at Networking Tasmania.
The BLIS project demonstrates our ability to:
-
Provide a long term service to government
-
Deliver flexible solutions for multiple delivery channels
-
Manage large amounts of distributed content, including application forms
