Tas Land Search aimed to accelerate the conveyancing process by providing fast and accurate land information for the overall benefit of the conveyancing industry.

The site, launched in November 2002, provided solicitors and real estate agents with easy access to the land information they need during the sale of properties. They could securely submit a search request, and quickly receive a customised report detailing any issues that need to be raised with the vendor or purchaser. The site provided a complete history of past transactions, including payment details, and larger organisations were able to manage multiple users (reducing administrative overhead).

Tas Land Search was an eCommerce-based business - the main interface with clients was their Web site. A key feature of the site was the ability to process credit card transactions online, in real time. Using the Westpac Payments Gateway (later the Verisign Payments Gateway), we provided a secure payment mechanism that reduces the accounting workload for both the client and end users (and over time, will minimise the use of other payment methods).

Human Solutions worked with Leigh Carmichael Design to create a site that would meet the growing needs of the client, and support their business into the future. LCD established the visual style and structure of the site, and Human Solutions implemented the functionality required to deliver the solution.

The Tas Land Search site combined many of the technologies we have used in other projects - dynamic PDF generation, secure content delivery, interactive forms. Using Microsoft's ASP.NET, we were able to deliver the site relatively quickly, reuse existing components, and maximise security for end users. We were able to transition from the existing site easily - converting all existing data and ensuring minimum downtime for users.

Tas Land Search was hosted through one of our servers at Networking Tasmania.

This project demonstrated our ability to develop robust Web applications, create secure eCommerce solutions, combine technologies to meet client needs, and deliver a quality product in a limited amount of time.

Tas Land Search has now merged into the Aus Property Search project.
